A Message of Gratitude Following the Volcano Fire
On July 7, 2026, the Volcano Fire broke out in the La Cresta/Murrieta area, threatening homes, ranches, wildlife, and the surrounding community. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of CAL FIRE, Riverside County Fire Department, and the many agencies that responded through mutual aid, the fire was contained before it could claim even more of our beautiful landscape.
Gratitude Ranch was directly in the fire's path.
For several intense days, more than 100 firefighters worked in rotating shifts alongside helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and fire engines to protect the ranch and neighboring properties. While portions of our undeveloped land were lost, our fitness and event center, horse facilities, and the heart of Gratitude Ranch were saved.
Words cannot adequately express our appreciation for the firefighters, pilots, emergency personnel, and support crews who risked their lives to protect our community. Their professionalism, courage, and unwavering commitment
allowed us to keep alive a place built to serve others through healing, education, wellness, and connection.
One moment will stay with us forever. Several firefighters shared that they had looked up Gratitude Ranch and learned about its mission while working the fire. They told us they understood what this place represents and wanted to help preserve it for the people whose lives it will continue to touch. Their kindness and compassion were as meaningful as their heroic efforts.
We are also deeply grateful to our neighbors, friends, volunteers, veterinarians, ranch hands, and everyone who reached out with prayers, encouragement, and offers of assistance. Your support carried us through an incredibly difficult experience.
Although the fire changed parts of our landscape, it did not diminish the spirit of Gratitude Ranch. In the weeks ahead, we will honor what was lost, celebrate what was protected, and continue moving forward with hope, resilience, and gratitude.
To every firefighter and first responder who stood between the flames and our community: thank you. Because of your dedication, Gratitude Ranch remains a place where healing can continue for years to come.
